1. WHEREAS, the Student Government Association (SGA) was founded “in order to form a more perfect representation of Student voices and views,” as stated in the SGA Constitution; and,

2. WHEREAS, there exist, outside of the SGA, many bodies where “Student voices and views” are aired on behalf of the student body; and,

3. WHEREAS, it is mutually beneficial for these parallel interests to collaborate, sharing ideas, arguments, contacts and information; and,

4. WHEREAS, a united Student voice is stronger, allows for greater transparency and helps fulfill the fundamental goals of the SGA; and,

5. WHEREAS, there exist many bodies where Students are either excluded, inactive or too few; and,

6. WHEREAS, enhancing the Student voice on these bodies would allow the SGA greater influence and opportunity to advocate on behalf of students; and,

7. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Department of Student Leadership is charged with enhancing the formal positions, outside of the SGA, representing the Student voice through activities including, but not limited to, finding, contacting and coordinating the efforts of said Students and enhancing the number of formal positions,

8. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the SGA By-Laws be changed as indicated in Addendum A to create the Department of Student Leadership.
