1. WHEREAS, the purpose of the SGA includes promoting and governing the activities and welfare of the students of the College Park campus; and,

2. WHEREAS, student groups are important to student’s experiences while they are at the University of Maryland and as a result it is important that the leaders of these organization receive direction, professional training, and help with recruitment, retention, and programming; and,

3. WHEREAS, the purpose of O.N.E. UMD Conference is to Organize, Network, and Empower student leaders, and seeks to provide proper training for successful programs and for successful student organizations; and,

4. WHEREAS, the O.N.E. UMD Conference will take place on Sunday, April 18th, 2010 at the Adele H. Stamp Student Union Center for Campus Life and will be available to all student organization officers; and,

5. WHEREAS, the Alumni Center, Career Center, and Stamp Student Union have already committed to support and partially fund this event; and,

6. WHEREAS, the first program was February 2008 and was reported to be a great success; and,

7. WHEREAS, the majority of the leaders who attended said that it was a useful program and would like to see it occur again in future years; and,

8. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that $5,934.87 be allocated from the SGA Legislative Reserves to the O.N.E. UMD Conference as the attached line items details; and,

9. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this year’s Student Body President and Director of Student Groups be encouraged to participate in the O.N.E. UMD Conference to promote better relationships between the SGA and student groups; and,

10. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that any unused funds be returned to the SGA.
