An Act Funding Housekeeper Appreciation Day
1. WHEREAS, the Student Government Association (SGA) represents the student body and provides services to all members of the university; and,
2. WHEREAS, University of Maryland housekeeping has worked hard to keep the university in an excellent state, especially the residential halls; and,
3. WHEREAS, the SGA wishes to acknowledge housekeepers’ services by hosting a Housekeeper Appreciation Day and,
4. WHEREAS, this event will provide housekeepers with a free lunch and give each person a personalized thank-you card signed by students; and,
5. WHEREAS, Director of Residential Affairs Jon Dooley fully supports Housekeeper Appreciation Day and will arrange one hour of paid leave for each housekeeper attending the event; and,
6. WHEREAS, the Residence Hall Association will be working with the SGA by funding food, which cannot be funded why the SGA under the finance guidelines; and,
7. WHEREAS, it will cost $100 to rent the Nyumburu multipurpose room for the event; and,
8. WHEREAS, invitations will be printed on cardstock ($19.99 for a pack of 60 x 3 packs) and each invitation costs $0.075 to print at the Stamp Union Copy Center; and,
9. WHEREAS, thank-you cards cost $1.49 each, with a total of 150 needed; and,
10. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that $100 be allocated to Housekeeper Appreciation Day for rental of the Nyumburu multipurpose room, $59.97+$11.25 for invitations and $223.50 for thank-you cards, for a total of $394.72; and,
11. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that any unused funds be returned to SGA Legislative Reserves.
