An Act Allocating Funds to the Free Entertainment DVD Program
Currently, no non-print materials (in this case DVDs) are available to students for circulation. Upon creation of this program, thousands of DVD’s would be available for circulation by Fall 2010. As part of the program, any DVD would be subject to course reserve by course instructors, as well as available for check-out for the student body. The Hornbake Non-Print Media Department has also agreed to assimilate any duplicate DVD's that they have on file, which number into the hundreds. In addition to the SGA funding, the offices of The University View have agreed to match up to $3000. The Non-Print Media Department has also applied for a library grant that would provide additional funds. Upon allocation of the funds, we would additionally apply for the philanthropy grant offered by the Briggs Alumni Center. Potentially $20,000 would be available to set up the program. Additionally, every title purchased would have a sticker labeled "purchased by SGA", with the organization's logo. There would also be a University View label as well due to their contribution. To decide which titles would be selected, a DVD Program Committee would be formed by the Non-Print Media Department, and would be comprised of the Assistant Director of Non-Print Media Department, student and staff applicants and ideally the SGA Library Liaison and Vice President of Finance.
