THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the University of Maryland Student Government Association supports Congressional passage of the Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Act

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Student Government Association approves the General Education Program as proposed.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the SGA supports the Campus Drive alignment for the Purple Line

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Department of Community Engagement is charged with enhancing students’ involvement in the College Park and surrounding community through activities including, but not limited to, creating and supporting community service programs, as well as creating a central location for students to find service opportunities,

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Student Government Association urges all relevant academic departments to create more courses centered on Native American Studies;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Department of Community Engagement is charged with enhancing students’ involvement in the College Park and surrounding community through activities including, but not limited to, creating and supporting community service programs, as well as creating a central location for students to find service opportunities,

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we request that the administration meet with the Justice at Wings Campaign and the striking workers in order to discuss how to encourage Wings Enterprises to come to a speedy resolution with the workers.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the SGA supports HB 1014; and

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the SGA supports the review of ACE credits to be applied towards the degree of the veterans who have so proudly served our country in the United States military;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the University of Maryland SGA supports the city’s decision to install countdown pedestrian signs at these intersections of Route One;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the SGA urges the UMCP administration to evaluate the role that Standardized Testing plays in our admissions procedure

Further action: I want to lead the SGA in promoting the Smoking Cessation Program by tabling outside of Stamp later in the spring using supplies already in the possession of the Health Center, writing an article, and staffing the Smoking Cessation table at the Health Expo. We can also assist the Smoking Cessation Counselor by sending a survey to our constituencies.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Student Government Association supports the fire safety education grant program being introduced by Senator Lautenberg (NJ) and Representative Pascrell (8-NJ) to both the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives.

The transfer legislator position will be added to the SGA By-laws under ARTICLE II. DUTIES AND POWER – LEGISLATIVE BRANCH under Section 1, Subsection A.2. as x. (following w.) reading: x. Tansfer: consisting of all students who transfer into the University of Maryland, College Park. As well, under Subsection A.4 under the Geographic Legislators column, an extra column shall be added and read as follows: 1 Transfer Legislator This will be enacted for these upcoming 2010 elections, where a transfer legislator will be part of a ticket.
